You might be familiar with my perfect palette concept. Ideally, it’d be a quint consisting of a vanilla, neutral brown, light reddish brown, dark reddish brown and eggplant shades. Inglot 357 is my go-to neutral brown and for the eggplant I always use the darkest Chanel Raffinement shade but admittedly, that’s not very practical to have it all separately. I have my eye on Anastasia Morocco and Red Earth shades but before I make an order I thought I’d finally try Makeup Geek first as I thought Marlena’s Cocoa Bear shadow might be reminiscent of Nars Dolomites…
Completing this palette was a little cheeky. I first got a Mac Pro Quad because I’m still sort of an opinion that larger palettes are just a waste of space but back to the point… I then selected four of Makeup Geek shadows to fill it up with and waited horrendous weeks for the package to arrive. I would really like an explanation for how the package got from US to UK in two days but then hang around London for almost a month.
Of course it had to be Cocoa Bear. My whole reason for placing order in the first place. It’s a really warm red brown and in comparison Nars Dolomites is perhaps deeper and has a slight purple undertone that’s nowhere to be found in Cocoa Bear and I can’t wait to do a smokey eye using that shadow. The other two stand in for the light browns that you can throw in your socket line any day. Both Crème Brûlée and Frappé have a reddish undertone which I don’t mind terribly. Frappé might be my favourite of the four as it’s a mid tone red brown while Crème Brûlée pulls more peachy making it the perfect transition shade. To complete the palette I chose Beaches and Cream as I thought it would be nice to have a shade to put all over the eyelid and all I seem to have in my stash are beiges so I chose this more bisque shade.

There is definitely a lot more MUG shadows I want to try (Americano, Grandstand, Latte and so on) but it’ll take a minute before I splurge on the customs again. I will however say that having used the shadows, the formula is excellent. For me no fallout and pigmentation are key and this quad ticks both becoming an essential in my daily routine. You know, I love my matte reddish browns. Have you tried anything from Makeup Geek?
That is a beautiful palette!
