Thoughts on the Hyped Up Makeup in My Collection

Now, I do like to kid myself into thinking I’m completely immune to marketing but what is better marketing than hyping up a product within the online beauty community. This list was interesting to put together because why I definitely research products before buying them, I have on occasions bought something only because I heard someone mention it multiple times even if I knew I probably won’t get that much use out of it. There is also a few brands that I generally consider to be hyped up and they definitely made up a bulk of this list. Continue reading “Thoughts on the Hyped Up Makeup in My Collection”

Hakuhodo Shopping Experience and Haul

About three months ago I exclaimed how after purchasing a Surratt brush I finally understood artisan brushes but also how I wouldn’t be shopping for any in the near future. I have had my eye on Wayne Goss brushes for ages but somehow I wasn’t keen on ordering from Beautylish and actually found that Rae Morris was a much easier option to get in Europe or Australia given that Rae Morris is an Australian brand. I was still tempted by the Hakuhodo offering and thanks to Hailey’s buying guide, I finally managed to put an order together. Continue reading “Hakuhodo Shopping Experience and Haul”

Pillow Talk Smokey Eye Look

It’s no secret I have a bit of an obsession with red brown eyeshdows and there are certainly a few in my collection starting with Nars Dolomites, pretty much all the eyeshadow palettes and a few singles I own. Now I previously discussed the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Eye Palette here and featured more of the pinky beige look but seeing as the palette has now been restocked, I wanted to test if you could create a more smokey look. This whole idea perhaps came about because of the recent Julianne Moore cover for The Rake and while this isn’t a recreation, it’s pretty much reminded me to smoke out my lower lash line more often because she looked absolutely stunning. Best Neutral Blushers Feat. Kevyn Aucoin, Nars and More

P1000179-2

I have recently passed on some of the products I wasn’t enjoying in my collection, namely any blusher that didn’t fall into the neutral blush category, and I quickly realised that while I can be very picky with makeup, blusher is the one category where I’m on top of my game. I currently have seven blushers in my collection, desperately eyeing up their dupes on Temptalia, but I figured I’d go through each every one of them and explain why they didn’t get tossed the way the Hourglass Mood Exposure infamously did. Going through all of these, I pretty much realised I need a nude with a fair amount of pink to show up my warmer skin but colours like Mood Exposure have just a little bit too much pink and not enough nude. 7 Irreplaceable Makeup Products

There is something thrilling about signature looks and these are the key pieces of my makeup closet. I keep coming back to them and they have all been well used. Once upon a time this list would have been the filled with the likes of Chanel makeup but frankly I’ve not bought anything from the brand for years and all the products I have and like were limited edition. On the same note, the little makeup I’ve bought in the last year or so has been mostly Nars hence the majority of these but still these are all products I have repurchased and desperately trying, have failed to find shades and formulas that can compete with them. The lack of face products on this list simply proves that I am yet to find a product that both matches me and looks seamless on the skin. Continue reading “7 Irreplaceable Makeup Products”
